    Recreational - "Dog Agility Leagues"
    Description Of Agility Leagues:
Agility Leagues are similar in nature to any bowling or golf league, in the fact, that the members of one team compete against the members of another. Agility Leagues run every other week for a total of four weeks. We normally run two separate Agility League sessions during the winter months each year. At the end of each 4 week Agility League session, we do participate in a simple award ceremony where we recognize all paid team members with a placement medal.

Agility Leagues are a great way to keep an "edge" on your competitive handling skills, with your dog, during the winter months. It also allows the handler/dog an opportunity to practice and fine tune their agility skills by competing indoors in preparation for upcoming spring agility events such as A.K.C. - U.K.C. - U.S.D.A.A. - N.A.D.A.C. - A.S.C.A.

A pre-agility league meeting will be held to discuss and go over all aspects of the agility league registration requirements, rules and procedures. From that meeting, all paid registered handlers/dogs names will be entered into a pool. Agility teams are randomly selected from the pool of names, into individual 3 handlers and 3 dogs to a team. These newly formed teams, at the time of the drawing, will formulate an unique team name to represent themselves. Team names like, "The 3 Musketeers", "The 3 Stooges" and "The 3 Amigos" are a few examples.

The handlers/dogs compete against ever changing courses and course times. Team points are given for each members' under course time and for a no fault (clean) run. Bonus points are added, when all of the members of one team, have under course times and no fault (clean) runs. Handicaps are applied after the third week of competition to even out the scores.

We also have a sign up list for those agility trained handlers/dogs who wish to volunteer as a "Sub" on any team, during that Agility League session. Sub's are used in the event that a paid regular team member cannot attend in a league competition. It is then the responsibility of the non attending team member to secure a Sub from the list for their team. The Sub's score will then be added to whatever team member they are substituting. In the event no Sub's are available, then the slowest dogs running time for that day will be applied to the non attending team members score. Sub's do not pay for participating in the Agility Leagues.
